Café Hopping

Café hopping with Dawn and Jack at Trenabies and The Reel.
There's nothing like a nice afternoon spent in a few cozy cafés with good company, coffee and conversation. In my opinion a good café should include: an inviting atmosphere, comfortable seats, relaxing music and most  important of all, good coffee.

Elie Saab

I love Elie Saab's beautiful dresses, they are so intricate and each and every detail is payed careful attention to. Elie Saab is an expert in highlighting a woman's silhouette, everything he does is calculated and his dresses have such radiance, it seems that light just bounces off them like jewels. His floor sweeping gowns flow gorgeously. He uses fine materials and delicate beads and embroidery to create stunning feminine garments that have clothed many notable clients such as Queen Rania of Jordan, Princess Sirivannavari of Thailand and celebrities including; Rhianna, Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry, Katy Perry and Mila Kunis.

Elie Saab's interest in dress-making started at the age of 9 when he began to create dresses for his sisters and then  in his adolescence moved on to selling his items to women in his neighborhood. His main inspiration is the capital city of Lebanon, Beirut, where he was born and where he still maintains his workshop. His creations can be found all over the globe in boutiques in Paris, London and Beirut. His latest haute couture collection, Spring/ Summer 2012 is incredible and I thought I would share some of it with you.

Hello Spring?!

This morning it was beautiful weather so I decided it was a good time to take some pictures! Only a few minutes after walking out of the door it started snowing and then a few minutes later it became sunny again. I hate unpredictable weather! Anyway, today I was going for a kind of ethereal look mixed with some tough boots and a blazer.
Also: thanks to my brother who photographed me!

inspirations

Charlotte De Carle
I love her style, masculine but still elegant and sexy, I think she is gorgeous and so down to earth - one of my favourite models. I also love all her blazers and I'm currently on the search for the perfect one.
If you haven't yet watched the TV show "Dirty Sexy Things" you really should, it's really interesting, funny and all the people on it are beautiful.

Vivienne Westwood
Even though she's in her 70's I think Vivienne Westwood is a huge inspiration, she helped shape the punk era and even now creates beautiful clothes. I love her attitude and what she stands for- good clothing that lasts a long time, unique styles to suit individual people and good old rock 'n' roll.

MGMT
Their music reminds me to relax and add a little bit of colour to my day. Music in general has a big impact on my style! Whatever I'm listening to at that moment will affect my mood, which will affect my clothing choice for the day and will generally give me a certain feeling whether it be punky or chilled or upbeat.

Fearne Cotton
I've seen pictures of her in magazines and things and I love everything she wears. Sometimes edgy, sometimes cute and vintage. I think our styles are very similar.

Allison Harvard
Allison has a really cute, kinda old fashioned quirky style. She is truly unique and wears what she finds interesting. Her dresses are lovely, I also like the lace and odd hats that she wears.

Of course there are so many other inspirations out there! I had a lot of trouble picking and choosing but these are some of the people that inspire me. Who and what inspires your style? Why?

What's in my bag?

A bag can tell you a lot about a person but what's inside can reveal all.

3. Batman notebook, where I collect everything I find interesting.
4. Sophie's Choice by William Styron - the book I'm reading now, it's incredible.

6. iPod nano, couldn't live without it.
8. Revlon lipstick in Stormy pink
9. Blistex Moisture Splash
10. Urban Outfitters camera case
11. Bird purse from Boots, it's so cute! And it even unfolds to reveal a mirror.

welcome to my blog

Hello! and welcome to my blog. I think I should introduce myself first of all...

I'm Anna and I have created this blog to express myself, post my interests, share my thoughts and ideas.
I live in Orkney, an isolated island in the north of Scotland, I hope to one day travel the world, float around and absorb everything that it has to offer. My interests include fashion, music and art. You could probably find me drinking coffee with friends or doing ballet.

My style consists of simple but edgy clothing, occasionally a girly skirt or dress. I love anything unique and special. Like most people I don't have all the money in the world so I shop at highstreet shops such as Topshop and I love little market places. My favourite item of clothing is probably my brown leather jacket or my tutu inspired skirt/shorts and I love my worn out Wranglers boots. Some of my favourite designers are Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs and I love Elie Saab dresses.

I have soooo many ideas on what to post, I'm gonna have loads of fun and I hope you enjoy my blog :)
(that is to assume that anyone is going to read this).
